HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Commission is setting the timetable to select the next chief of police.The members hope to have someone selected to replace the former chief Boise Correa by Thanksgiving.
Six finalists have been chosen; four are from Hawaii, one is from Phoenix and the other is from Chicago.
Public testimony begins next week. The actual selection could come the following week.
Louis Kealoha - Currently captain of the Juvenile Services Division. He was promoted to captain in 2005. His previous assignment was captain of the Criminal Investigation Division (Property Crime). He has 26 years of service at the Honolulu Police Department.
Harry Markley - Currently commander of the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy he has over 20 years of service at the Phoenix Police Department.
Paul Putzulu - Deputy Chief of HPD, currently serving as Acting Chief of HPD. His previous assignment was Deputy Chief of Field Operations. He was promoted to deputy chief in 2002 and has 37 years of service at HPD.
Debora Tandal - Currently the Assistant chief of Support Services Bureau. She was promoted to assistant chief in 2008. Her previous assignment was Major, District 3 (Pearl City). She has 30 years of service with HPD.
Delbert Tatsuyama - Currently Assistant chief of the Administrative Bureau at HPD. He was promoted to assistant chief in 2007. His previous assignment was Major, Finance Division. He has 29 years of service at HPD.
Gary Yamashiroya - Currently a commander in the Chicago Police Department.
