HONOLULU (KHNL) -A slowing economy and marketing efforts made by the University of Hawaii might just be the cause for a reported 5.3 increase in this Fall's overall enrollment at ten UH campuses.
The total student body for all University of Hawaii campuses and seven community colleges combined was an estimated 53,509 breaking 1994's record of 52,229.
"Reaching our highest all time enrollment is not just about the state's economy," said Linda Johnsrud, Vice President for Academic Planning and Policy.
She believes the increase in enrollment is due in part by UH's goal in reaching out to Hawaii's high school graduates and that university's efforts are finally paying off.
The only downside is UH Manoa declined in enrollment this fall to 19,969 students, 37 less than last fall.
