In what was his final game on the UH sidelines, Coach Vince Goo had a few final words for fans, and more importantly, his players. Goo's accomplishments at UH include 334-wins, 5 NCAA appearances and 5 NWIT appearances.More >>
Coach Les Murakami became just the 18th coach in Division I history to win 1,000 career games. He went on to win 79 more games, totaling 1079 wins. He was later inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000.More >>
UH center Christian Roper had already established herself as a defensive presence in the middle and needed two blocks to break Nani Cockett's career mark. Roper ended the game with 5 blocks and 7 points. Unfortunately the Rainbow Wahine lost 70-65 to Baylor. Roper would end her career with 303 career blocks, which stands to this day.More >>
The 135th home run by Jessica Iwata would break the record previously held by Arizona. In all, the Wahine would hit 158 round trippers in 2010. A season that would end with Hawaii’s first ever appearance in the College Softball World Series.More >>
Hawaii star Timmy Chang shot past BYU's Ty Detmer to set an all-time NCAA record for career passing yards, a mark that stands until this day. Chang had thrown for just over 17,000 yards and 117 career touchdowns. That touchdown record would eventually be surpassed by his successor, Colt Brennan.More >>
Hawaii's win against New Mexico State secured Dave Shoji's 1000th career win, only the 2nd head coach in Division 1 women's volleyball history to do so.More >>
Head Coach Vince Goo, had a very interesting month. First, Hawaii loses to TCU in the women's WAC championship. Two days later, Hawaii's top player, Captain Kylie Galloway, leaves the team for personal reasons. Undaunted Hawaii hosts its first post- season home games with wins over Santa Clara and BYU, to set them up for a matchup with Oklahoma State. In a 1- versus-2 match- up in warrior volleyball, national power, number 1 UCLA invaded the Rainbow Dome to face number 2 Hawaii. Legendary Hawaii star, Yuval Katz, takes Hawaii to match point and eventually knocks off the number 1 team in the country.More >>
Jason Elam makes a 56-yard field goal to set a new UH record. Unmatched until 2004 by Justin Ayat, but Elam also became UH's all-time leading scorer with that kick and Hawaii beat BYU 36-22.More >>
The Rainbows looked to repeat the 56-14 beating they handed BYU the year before. Earlier in the day, cougars quarterback Ty Detmer had won the Heisman trophy. Garrett Gabriel eventually hooked up with Jeff Sydner for an image that is still engrained in the minds of fans. UH finished the season with just 7 wins, but at the time, 59 points would be the most any UH team scored against BYU... That is until they scored 72 in 2001.More >>
At the MGM Grand, Hawaii faced 2-time defending conference champ BYU for the WAC title (who beat UH in both finals to claim those titles) This time around UH would not be denied. In the longest match in women's volleyball history, UH would defeat BYU in the 7th match point of the game. This would be the last time the two teams would meet in conference play, 8 months later BYU would leave the WAC for good.More >>
The Stan Sheriff Center, Hawaii and rival BYU tied at 70, Kalia McGee gets the loose ball passes down court to Tess Whitlock who drains it with one-tenth of a second showing on the clock. The headline the next day on the front page of the then Star-Bulletin... "There is a god."More >>
UH tied with BYU at 66 with seconds left on the clock, Trevor Ruffin drains a three at the buzzer to beat BYU 69-66. 'Bows would go on to beat the Cougars again for the WAC tournament title, which gave UH their first NCAA appearance under Coach Riley Wallace.More >>
Wahine Volleyball team hosts UCLA at Klum Gym. The Bruins held a perfect 9-0 record but the Wahine had a flawless 7-0 record of their own. The Wahine would go on to sweep the Bruins 15-13, 15-9, 15-8.More >>
UH trails 14-13 with 3:30 left in the 4th quarter with Air Force inside the Hawaii 10 yard line. Robert Lan's 95 yard fumble return won the game 19-13.More >>
