(Honolulu-AP) -- Stanford showed Hawaii why it is the defending national champions in women's volleyball. Ogonna Nnamani had 19 kills to lead the Cardinal over the Rainbow Wahine 31-29, 30-28, 30-24 Sunday night. It was the first loss of the season for Hawaii, which fell to 23-1.
Logan Tom had 16 kills and Sara McGee added 11 kills for Stanford, which managed to overcome the noisy sellout crowd at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawaii was led by Kim Willoughby's 20 kills and two aces. Lily Kahumoku added 19 kills and 10 digs. With the loss, Hawaii will most likely lose its Number one ranking in the USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Number four Stanford has a chance to move into the top spot.
It was the last regular season home match for Hawaii seniors Margaret Vakasausau, Jennifer Carey and Hedder Ilustre who were honored after the match.
