(Long Beach, California-AP) -- The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team defeated Long Beach State 30-23, 30-22, 36-38, 30-22 Wednesday night on the mainland. Tony Ching and Costas Theocharidis each had a double-double for the Warriors.
Ching had 19 kills and ten digs, while Theocharidis had 17 kills and eleven digs as the Warriors improved to 7-2 on the season. They are 3-2 against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents.
The 49ers dropped to 7-4 and 3-3.
Hawaii is ranked Number Two in the current USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 15 Poll. Long Beach State is ranked fifth. The two teams play again Friday night.
