UH Defensive Coordinator Leaves Hawaii For Boston College

(Honolulu-AP) -- Kevin Lempa has resigned as Hawaii's defensive coordinator to become the defensive backs coach at Boston College.

Lempa, who has been at Hawaii for the past three seasons, says being closer to his hometown of Hartford, Connecticut, was one of the main considerations in leaving Hawaii.

The 50-year-old Lempa is returning to Boston College where he coached linebackers and special teams from 1981 to 1990.

Warriors coach June Jones says Lempa was a key part to Hawaii's success over the past three seasons. Jones says he will address the vacancy left by Lempa over the next few months.
