(San Jose, California-AP) -- The University of Hawaii women's basketball team opened a three-game road trip Sunday with a 71-67 Western Athletic Conference loss to San Jose State.
Cricket Williams had a game-high 24 points to lead the Spartans, who improved to 9-12 overall and 5-7 in the WAC.
Christen Roper had 16 points and Jade Abele added 13 for the Rainbow Wahine, who dropped to 12-9 and 6-6.
Hawaii hit one more basket than San Jose State, and both teams had the same number of 3-point baskets. But the Spartans scored 13 points at the foul line to Hawaii's seven.
The Rainbow Wahine continue their road trip Thursday at Nevada. They will return home after playing Fresno State on Saturday.
