English's Last Second Shot Lifts Bows To Victory

(Honolulu-AP) -- Carl English hit a jumper from the top of the key with 16 seconds left to give Hawaii a 73-71 victory over Nevada. English led the way with 27 points, including 19 in the first half. He also had eight rebounds.

Mark Campbell had 12 points and Phil Martin 10 for Hawaii. For Nevada, Green finished with 15 points and Kirk Snyder 12. Hawaii trailed only once in the game and raced off to a 34-17 lead en route to a 41-31 halftime lead.

The Rainbow Warriors had a ten-point lead with about five minutes left, but Nevada went on a 13-3 run to tie the score. That set up English's game winner.

The loss dropped Nevada to two and a half games behind Fresno State in the Western Athletic Conference standings.
