(Provo, Utah-AP) -- Brigham Young upset the University of Hawaii 30-24, 31-29, 30-27 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball match on the mainland. The Cougars are ranked fourth in this week's USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 15 Poll. The Warriors are ranked second.

Rafael Paal had 20 kills and Jonathan Alleman added eleven as B-Y-U improved to 9-2 on the season and 9-2 in conference play. Costas Theocharidis, Pedro Azenha and Tony Ching had 12 kills apiece for Hawaii, which dropped to 9-4 and 5-4.

The teams play each other again Friday night.
