Baseball Bows Defeat Wichita State In Series Opener

(Honolulu-AP) -- Brian Bock and Tim Montgomery homered for the University of Hawaii as the baseball Rainbows beat Wichita State 7-3 in Friday night's opener of their three-game series. Hawaii was up 1-0 in the fourth inning when Andrew Sansaver tripled in a run and Bock hit a two-run homer.

The 7-and-1 Shockers scored one run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to cut the Rainbows' lead to 4-3. Montgomery hit a three-run homer in the eighth as Hawaii won its seventh game of the season against one loss.

Hawaii's Brian Finegan had a hit in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games. The series continues tomorrow night and winds up Sunday afternoon.
