Theocharidis Reaches 2,000 Kills In Route To Victory Over Loyola-Chicago

(Honolulu-AP) -- Costas Theocharidis became the first University of Hawaii men's volleyball player to reach the 2,000 mark Friday night when he led the Warriors over Loyola of Chicago 30-22, 30-21, 30-24.

Theocharidis, who was the school's career kills leader at the start of the season, had 1,990 career kills going into the match before knocking down 17 more. Tony Ching had 14 kills and Eyal Zimet added eleven for Hawaii, which is ranked second in the U-S-A Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 15 Poll.

Mike Alesch and Justin Schnor had 12 kills apiece for the 12th-ranked Ramblers.

Hawaii, which beat Loyola in straight games Wednesday night, improved to 13-5 on the season. The Ramblers dropped to 10-5.
