Baseball Bows Swept By Rice

(Honolulu-AP) -- Rice beat the University of Hawaii baseball Rainbows 11-1 Sunday to sweep their three-game Western Athletic Conference series.

Austin Davis drove in four runs for the Owls. They are ranked Number One in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll and Number Two by Baseball America.

Rice extended its winning streak to 16 games overall and 13 straight in conference play while improving to 19-1 overall and 6-0 in the WAC.

Hawaii dropped to 13-8 and 1-5.

The Owls were leading 9-0 when the Rainbows got their only run in the sixth as Matthew Inouye scored on a double by Isaac Omura.

Justin Ruchti's solo home run in the eighth ended Rice's scoring.
