University of Hawaii basketball star Carl English will forego his final year to enter the NBA draft. The 22-year-old junior guard will graduate in May but has one year of NCAA eligibility left to play. English says playing in the NBA has been a dream and, "I feel like I'm ready to play at the next level."
The Newfoundland, Canada, native averaged 19.3 points and 5.4 rebounds this season. He also broke the single-season Hawaii record for three-pointers, with 89, and was named to the all-WAC First Team.
A university news conference was called today to officially announce English's decision. The draft is June 26th. English has until June 19th to remove his name from the draft if he chooses to return to UH for another season.
