Bows Fall To 1-13 In WAC

(Ruston, Louisiana-AP) -- Louisiana Tech took advantage of four University of Hawaii errors to score five unearned runs in the fourth inning on the way to edging the baseball Rainbows 7-6 Friday night. The Bulldogs are looking to sweep the three-game Western Athletic Conference series tomorrow.

Hawaii took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a two-run homer by Tim Montgomery. The big hit for Louisiana Tech in the bottom of the inning was Kyle Spangler's three-run home run.

The Rainbows added a run in fifth on an RBI single by Brent Cook, before the Bulldogs pulled ahead 7-3 in the sixth on a two-run single by Jody Wood. Matthew Inouye and Montgomery had back-to-back homers in the eighth, and Hawaii ended its scoring in the ninth on Inouye's RBI sacrifice fly. The Rainbows fell to 18-19 overall and 1-13 in the WAC. Tech improved to 12-21-1 and 5-9.
