It's a Wonderful Life

I suppose it's inevitable that someone will find fault with anything, but after a while, it does tend to get a bit numbing. I mean, the lack of care for providing a full educational experience by adults in charge is obvious with the inordinate number of furlough days we've seen this school year, and now come two more signs that the apocalypse might actually be around the corner… no, not really.

First there are the economists who suggest that maybe college is not all that necessary, that technical training or two-year degrees might do the trick. For some people, absolutely. Of course, none of these economists ever had a social life at college, so they don't really get some of the intangibles that college provides in helping to mature a young mind. And then there is the report that day care kids end up to possibly be more impulsive and are more prone to take risks than kids who spend the first few years at home. Of course, some people took risks and founded this country.

I guess this is all not surprising. First, our supposedly healthy food is bad- like too much fish or too much tofu, and now people with too much time on their hands are telling us about how to live our lives socially; we are just not a very bright species, are we? Time to crawl up on the sofa with 10-seasons of "King of Queens" on DVD, as we eat our walnuts, broccoli, and blueberries- but that's it. Think about it…
