(Honolulu-AP) -- University of Hawaii athletic director Herman Frazier says the athletics department is retaking hands-on control of its marketing. Frazier says in-house marketing will resume July first, the day after a contract with Leigh Steinberg Enterprises expires.
The company was originally hired in 2000. Steinberg says he recommended the university resume control of its athletic marketing operations.
Frazier says a separate five-year consulting contract, which is in its third year, will continue with the Steinberg group. He says the university will begin an immediate search for an associate athletic director to spearhead the in-house marketing effort.
