Manoa (KFVE) - This week's Cheap Eats is at a restaurant with humble origins. What started in a converted garage in Nu'uanu has now expanded to a second location. Russ and Lyle visit Bangkok Chef in Manoa.
If you're a fan of the original location, you'll be delighted to find very similar offerings at the new establishment. To help customers navigate the chef's extensive selection, Bangkok chef has you covered with their billboard menu. Among the many tasty offerings are Thai cuisine mainstays like the pad thai noodles, chicken satay skewers and summer rolls, but that's just for starters.
"What brings you to Bangkok Chef today? What do you have in front of you?" Russ asks.
"I got the pork stew, I love it! It's so light and fresh," says Steve Komori from Kapahulu.
Be sure to check out their other impressive dishes like the basil shrimp with bamboo shoots sautéed in oyster sauce or the pad ki mao, the "chow fun, thai style," according to Lyle.
For the vegetarians out there, there is a great selection here as well. In a Cheap Eats first, Russ orders the papaya salad with thai iced tea. Lyle decides on the chicken satay, which comes with six pieces of chicken and peanut sauce for dipping. Thai food can be hot or mild but dining at Bangkok Chef will surely spice up your life!
