"The more things change the more they stay the same". This old adage holds true on this week's Cheap Eats. The boys are on the boulevard, what was once Boulevard Saimin, is now called Dillingham Saimin. For decades Boulevard Saimin has wowed crowds with great food and prices worthy of the cheap eats hall of fame. Long time customer's no need to be alarmed; your favorite dishes are still here.
For new customers, Dillingham Saimin is much more than simple saimin. A couple must-try Items in their lineup are the hawaiian steak plate and their mahi mahi dinner plate.
"You were telling me that you eat here at least twice a week," says Russ.
"Yep," says Kevin Watanabe, a Waipio resident.
What's tops for you?
"My special plate here, teriyaki, fried noodles and tempura," replies Kevin.
"Am I understanding this right? No matter what you order you always have to go with the cone sushi chaser." Russ laughs.
"Yep that's right!"
But lest we forget, a visit to Dillingham Saimin wouldn't be complete without the saimin! Russ decides on the kayaku saimin with won bok, char siu and won ton.
