HONOLULU (KFVE) - It's time now for some meals literally on the go. Lyle and Russ found some great food at great prices. This week's Cheap Eats is going mobile.
They head to the corner of Nimitz and Kalihi Street, one of the busiest intersections in Honolulu. It's not where you would expect to find some of the best pizza in town. And yet, there's Inferno's Wood Fire Pizza. Their wood-fired oven is a brick heat box on wheels.
"We use kiawe wood," said John Wong of Inferno's Wood Fire Pizza.
The Inferno's been burning up this hot corner with full-sized pizzas as low as $8. Specialty pizzas go for just $12.
Nora Nagao of Honolulu loves the Pico Pepperoni pizza.
"It's got gooey cheese, the pepperoni is a little bit spicier, and we order it with anchovies and extra garlic," said Nagao.
Inferno's also has a basil and tomato pizza, as well as an Italian salami pizza.
"The first time we came we were like really? There's a pizza place here?" said Nagao. "But as soon as you get that hot bubbling pizza out from the oven and you take that first bite, it doesn't matter where you are. You're in heaven."
At Inferno's you can order off the menu or you can go with one of their many specials, including the Pico Pepperoni and the Bella Portabella mushrooms, bell peppers, spinach, mozzarella and a special sauce.
They even have a pizza with beef brisket on it. And their all meat pizza comes with salami, pepperoni and Italian sausage.
You can find Inferno's Wood Fire Pizza on the corner of Nimitz and Kalihi Streets in the Hawaii Hardwood Flooring parking lot.
