HONOLULU (KFVE) -- There's nothing quite like mama's cooking. Russ and Lyle went to McCully to get a taste of some Korean home-cooking in this week's Cheap Eats. They're at Mama Woo's Korean Restaurant. They've been open at 2080 South King Street for a few months, but already the word about Mama's has spread. Most of their items are priced at $7.95.
At Mama Woo's you can find some of your favorite side dishes, like tofu, potato salad, seaweed, macaroni salad and kim chee. As for their main dishes, there's the Mama Woo's special. It has kalbi, barbeque chicken, barbeque beef, chicken wings and mandoo. There's also their stir fried squid, or fried rice plate with egg and potato croquette. If you like it spicy, they also have kimchee fried rice.
Mama Woo's is so good that fans have followed her from previous locations in Hawaii Kai and Kaneohe, to this spot at 2080 South King Street. It's located right across from the McCully McDonald's.
"It's the best Korean barbeque on this island," said Lillian Higa of Hawaii Kai. "There's no other barbeque restaurant that can beat her."
