HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Love was in the air as viewers witnessed a surprise proposal at the Merrie Monarch Thursday.

After Mahealani Mika Hirao-Solem, Miss Aloha Hula 2010, performed her final dance, her kumu hula, Kaui Kamanao, got down on one knee.

"I was nervous the whole year basically," he laughed.
