This week on Cheap Eats, Russ and Lyle revisit an old favorite. They're in the Ala Moana area on Hopaka Street at the newly renovated Side Street Inn. It's been a favorite for 19 years, and now open for lunch, with a menu that has something for just about everyone.
Lunch is available Monday through Friday from 10 to 2. Patrons can sit on the newly renovated lunch counter and order up delicious sandwiches like their French dip with the au jus or the huge turkey sandwich both served with french fries. At Side Street, it's all about big time taste at a reasonable price. Among the many favorites are the fried rice with Portuguese sausage, bacon, char siu and an egg on top and of course, the official Side Street pork chops.
Mike Betz from Mililani says, "It's awesome. Everything's good. I haven't found one thing over here that's not good.
"You've tried the whole menu?" asks Russ.
"Just about, that's the way you gotta do it at Side Street Inn. Try everything, the whole menu."
Lyle has the one of the Wednesday specials, roast turkey with gravy all over, homemade stuffing and mashed potatoes. Russ decides on the Lilikoi-Guava bacon wrapped chicken. I'm checking it out. Can't go wrong at Side Street Inn on Hopaka Street, now open for lunch, it's this week's Cheap Eats.
