‘Twas the weekend before Christmas, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, except for the clicking of that incessant computer mouse,
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
Heck, they cost ten bucks each, so I used them to wear;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions from Facebook danced in their heads;
And mamma in her muumuu and I in my cap,
Had just settled down from shopping at The Gap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang up from bed, though I've grown a bit fatter;
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Propped open old louvers, but a faulty one crashed,
When, what to my wandering eyes should appear,
A guy rummaging for cans, and I just sighed "oh dear";
Now darn it, now come on, now this can't be so,
In a land of such plenty, yet some have no dough;
His eyes, how they twinkled, his dimples how merry,
His demeanor so pleasant, his fragrant lei plumeri(a),
He spoke not a word but kept straight at his work,
I said nary a word lest he think me a jerk,
As he turned to continue his trek in the night,
He looked at me, smiled, and said "it's all right";
And I realize this season brings happiness and joy,
But let's help each other, with goodness deployed,
Merry Christmas Hawaii, and to all a good night,
Continue the fine fight to always do right;
We must do what we can, we must never ever quit,
We must always be conscious, and think about it…
