Big Island police have charged 38-year-old Pedro Peter of Kailua-Kona with 10 offenses Friday after he ran over a 3-year-old boy with his pickup truck earlier this week.
Peter was charged with manslaughter, no operator's license, no no-fault insurance, four counts of no child restraint, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
He remains at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $52,125 bail pending his initial court appearance on Monday.
Police say Joel Peter, the 3-year-old, fell out of the cab of a pickup truck and then was run over on the shoulder area leading to the driveway of a retail establishment off Route 190 on the 73-4000 block in Kalaoa, North Kona.
