Thousands gather as windy 2013 Great Aloha Run gets underway

Thousands of walkers and runners are expected to take part in the 29th Annual Great Aloha Run on Monday.
The 8.15-mile course starts at Aloha Tower, winds its way down Nimitz Highway, Kamehameha Highway and on to Aloha Stadium.
Most downtown streets close to vehicular traffic just before 4 a.m. including Punchbowl to Bishop St. And from Beretania to Nimitz Highway.
The race begins at 7 a.m.
The 2012 Great Aloha Run had nearly 30,000 participants.
*No heelies, roller skates, in-line skates, bikes, scooters, skateboards, animals (except service dogs), cars or unregistered runners allowed on race course or through finish line at Aloha Stadium.
Race packet (running number, timing chip, pins and race instructions) pick-up and very late entry is held at the Ka GAR Sports, Health & Fitness Expo, Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall, Pikake Room, 777 Ward Avenue, Honolulu. Dates and times:
