Hālau Hula Nā Pua Uʻi O Hawaiʻi (Wahine)

The train called Lanakila was purchased by Benjamin Dillingham in 1885, and it was the first train on the island of Oʻahu. Crown Princess Liliʻuokalani boarded the train at Iwilei in Honolulu, and it took her on a trek to ʻAiea. At the end of the track, she boarded a carriage to continue her journey over the plains of Leilehua to the sands of Māeaea, near Waialua. In the year 2000, Aunty Pat Namaka Bacon gave Kumu Etua the words to this mele from the collection of Mary Kawena Pukui.
