Think About It: Philippine Typhoon Aid

The devastation from Typhoon Haiyan continues to impact millions of people in the Philippines. Less than three-years after the incredible destruction of a tsunami in Japan and a tremendous outpouring of support locally, we are once again trying to help out our neighbors in Asia in the wake of nature's powerful outburst. "Kokua for the Philippines", a local concert on December 15th, will be broadcast live on KFVE and many other local TV and radio stations, but the rallying cry for help is right now.

Essentials such as shelter, clothing, electricity, medicine, and water are in great demand, but it's been hard for rescue efforts to even find a way to get into the most troubled areas due partially to poor infrastructure and tons of debris strewn all over the place. Many local philanthropic agencies and retailers are encouraging people to help out any way they can- right now. The quickest way for you to help is to write a check today to the America Red Cross and indicate "Philippine Typhoon" on the check to ensure that the money is appropriately applied.

Between sustained winds of more than 160-miles per hour and the 15-foot or greater sea surges, more than 10-million people have been impacted by the force of this typhoon. Unfortunately, the Philippine islands are prone to natural disasters- earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and vicious storms, to name just a few. We must help out now; we must do it quickly- for friends, families, and anyone in need, because it's simply the right thing to do. Think about it…
