LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Class was in session at the Cannabis Academy in Downtown Louisville on Saturday.  Marijuana is not legal in Kentucky although some are looking to change that, holding a seminar today at the Galt House.

Senator Perry Clark has been actively campaigning to advance a bill that would legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes here in the state.  Founders of Comfytree Cannabis Academy say interest from locals is what brought the "business and law workshop" here.

They say it is only a matter of time before the market expand and they want to want to provide education on the plants and give an overview of what the industry can become.

20 states already have marijuana for medicinal purposes.  Proponents for the legalization of marijuana won a hard-fought battle on Jan. 1, when Colorado began sales for recreational use.
Democrats here say the issue is still new to Kentucky so a bill would be a long-shot this legislative session.
