Think About It: Titillating Title Ties

Movie lovers are already talking about the sequels and re-boots to established franchises we'll see in 2015, so let's look at some of the titles of sequels or re-boots we have in our local midst… "The Hunger Games- Mockingjay Part 2". Mocking and cheap shots solve no issues. We have an increasing problem with people in need of food and shelter in Hawaii, and now that we have a kinder, gentler head of state here, let's see if these problems start seeing real solutions in 2015. "Avengers: Age of Ultron". The UH basketball team surely seems like it's on a mission after the ouster of its coaches, a defection of its best player, and early predictions of a season of doom and gloom. Kudos to these Warriors on a great 12-4 start to the season, though we still have "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" coming up as the NCAA will finally unload its presumed penalties on the program for transgressions, including lying.

"Pitch Perfect 2"- now that we have a governor who is from among the legislators, let's see how smoothly things go down in the highest government circles locally. It might not be pitch perfect, but hopefully we'll hear fewer sour notes this year. "Mad Max: Fury Road"; we hear that the road repairs here are on schedule, with many more miles to be fixed this year. Good, because many more miles need fixing, and fast. Let's just hope the aging water and sewer pipes below some of these very same streets hold out.

And finally, the "Fantastic Four" franchise will be back in theatres this summer. Will our Democratic Congressional reps morph into a fantastic four of some sort in a Republican-controlled House and Senate? Will they shine to help ensure that Hawaii gets what it needs and deserves from those legislative houses of horror? Plenty to watch for in 2015, as we all- think about it…
