The Huntsville Fire and Rescue Department received a new heavy rescue truck to respond to special operations.
The vehicle has equipment specially made to breach reinforced concrete and heavy steel.
The department acquired the vehicle through the Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus.
A Huntsville Fire spokesperson said the truck will allow them to perform faster and more efficient rescues.
"We've had a team in place for several years, but we've been lacking with the appropriate equipment to respond with, so being able to acquire this apparatus will give us a way to respond appropriately to those calls, as well as buy and transport additional equipment to provide a more thorough response," said Capt. Wesley Ogle with Huntsville Fire and Rescue
Captain Ogle says the truck comes just in time for winter, when a lot of weather calls come in because of the cold temperatures.
