Think About It: A Time To Share

If you get a chance and can still find tickets, do yourself a favor and see the Manoa Valley Theatre's excellence performance of the classic Who rock opera, "Tommy".  Everyone involved does a great job- from the singers and dancers to the musicians to the intricate maneuvering of sets on a small stage. We do have some really great theatre here, and while I have often lamented the lack of big acts that come to our shores these days, there are plenty of local events worth attending- music, theatre, comedy, film festivals, dance events, holiday galas, school performances, art exhibits, cultural specials- the list goes on and on.

And with the holiday season fully upon us, now might be a great time to spend time with someone you love, like, need, or owe by taking them to such an event. Of course, please leave your phone in the car; yes, go digital cold turkey for just a little while. Family members ask me what I want for my birthday and I always say a tie, just kidding. Since "peace on earth" seems impractical and unwieldy, I prefer the gift of music, a favorite pastime and addictive hobby of mine.

This December, spend a few minutes perusing the many weekly options and find something you love or maybe even search for something different that might be fun to try with someone you love, or like, or owe. Go try a new restaurant, see a local show, concert, or play; go check out that deaf, dumb, and blind kid- he sure plays a mean pinball. "Tommy" still works after being birthed over 46-years ago. Do you? Think about it…
