During the Military Appreciation Month of May in Hawaii, the organizers of the Lex Brodie’s Above & Beyond Award honored Master Sergeant Thomas Mortenson, at Kemo’o Farms in Wahiawa. The ceremony was a “surprise” for M SGT Mortenson, a Senior Career Counselor with the U.S. Army at Schofield Barracks. During his military career, he has courageously deployed to Iraq twice.
In addition to his service to our country, M SGT Mortenson is the volunteer President of the Waialua Bullpups Pop Warner Football & Cheer Association. During his two-year tenure with the organization, the amount of athletes in the program has doubled. In addition to being the volunteer President of the Association, he is also a head coach and dedicates four hours a night on average after leaving his day job.
M SGT Mortenson truly embodies what the Lex Brodie’s Above & Beyond Award means as a military serviceman and the personal time he has volunteered and dedicated to the keiki of the Oahu community.
