HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A two-alarm blaze Wednesday morning that "heavily affected" a single-story duplex home caused about $230,000 in damage, the Honolulu Fire Department said.

Honolulu fire officials say flames were first reported at around 11:30 a.m. Nearly 40 firefighters arrived 10 minutes later, finding flames emanating from one of the units and the entire residence filled with smoke.

An adult male and an infant, who were both home at the time of the fire, were able to escape from the home uninjured, the fire department said.

The flames were reported under control at 12:01 p.m., and the fire was fully extinguished by about 20 minutes later.

Investigators say the fire started from one of the kitchens, but they couldn't determine the exact source because of all the damage.

Fire officials also classified the blaze as "undetermined" because there was not enough information to pinpoint the exact cause.
