HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A water quality alert for Ala Moana Beach Park that had been in effect since Wednesday was cancelled Friday after state health department officials completed another round of bacteria testing.

The Department of Health's Clean Water Branch had warned of elevated levels of enterococci, saying water samples showed nearly eight times the safe amount of the bacteria.

An advisory distributed by the Clean Water Branch on Friday said that "water sample testing results show that the enterococci levels no longer exceed advisory levels."

The Clean Water Branch posted the information on a web site that people can subscribe to for the latest information.
