Think About It: The Wonder Of It All

Let's finally give Stevie Wonder a break. The guy never did anything malicious to Hawaii, yet we still hear media refer to his infamous and phony concert here as the "Wonder Blunder". The name itself implies that someone the multi-Grammy Award winning artist was involved or made a mistake. Not true at all. His name has been tainted by someone allegedly acting as a promoter who worked with a local promoter to announce a concert to be held here six years ago which, in reality, was a scam, a sham, and a criminal act.

The supposed promoter on the mainland has now been sentenced to five years in jail, the stunned local promoter of this non-event sadly passed away less than a year after the incident, but the bottom line on this unfortunate fiasco is that Stevie Wonder's name now has been tarnished locally via a supposed fundraiser concert which neither he nor his management team had anything to do with. My personal hope was that we would've gotten an actual Stevie Wonder concert here at some point over the past five years, which would have been a great public relations move and surely would've sold out, just like that fake concert did within days back in 2012.

So from now on when referring to this nefarious incident, I will refer to it as that 2012 concert debacle, the show that never was, the Great Scam in the land of Spam, but I will not refer to is as… well, you know, because that is simply not fair to a superb recording artist who had nothing to do with something that never happened. As Stevie sang to us back in 1974 "…You Haven't Done Nothin'". So let's stop blaming him. Think about it…
