WAIKELE,OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

All lanes of the H-1 have been reopened after a cement spill closed a stretch of the freeway in the Waikele area, creating gridlocked traffic long after the morning commute on Wednesday.

Honolulu police reported that a cement truck lost some of its load near the Managers Drive overpass at around 7:35 a.m., shutting down three lanes.

Cameras showed a major backup in the area for hours. The state Department of Transportation even kept the zipper lane open to all vehicles until 10 a.m.

All lanes were reopened around 10:30 a.m. after crews cleaned up the area.
