Think About It: Strange, But True

Some odds and ends to send you off into your weekend… scientists from Europe believe they may have finally discovered a buried lake on Mars, which they believe will help in their understanding about Mars' beginnings, and the history of water… on Mars. In the meantime, wariness and weariness continue in Maui's water rights battle. Perhaps we can simplify that discourse by simply providing a PVC pipeline directly from Mars to the Valley Isle. Water rights here and elsewhere are becoming as sacred as oil rights have been for the past 50 years, so while the news from Mars is exciting to some, figuring out how to share and preserve life-sustaining water on this planet surely deserves more coverage and resolution, no offense to any Martians watching.

Speaking of Maui, a white unicorn was found floating off of Olowalu Beach in western Maui about two weeks ago, thus heightening the happiness of small children throughout the state who often wonder about going through life without ever seeing a sasquatch, a menehune, or the beloved, mythical unicorn. Yes, I know it was a plastic float they found off of Maui, but how did it get there? I'm sure we'll have a committee assess this ocean-going discovery soon, followed by public comments, a fact-finding commission, and more commentary.

And finally, it's great to see the girders and pillars to handle the rapid transit tracks going up mauka of the highway just west of the airport. But since the actual usage of this train segment is 3-5 years away, can we at least get some Olympic luge or toboggan practice going when it's completed but not in use? Think about it…
