Fall two-a-days continue on the UH lower campus. The Bows are closing in on that Montana on Maui opener. And against the Grizzlies the Warrior defense will be tested. Montana has one of the more powerfull programs in Division 1AA and after a long off-season the Warrior defense is ready to run.
The Warrior defense had it's share of tough times last season ranking in the bottom half of the country in terms of total defense. But after a tough off-season of work things could be changing in 2001. And that includes no weak leaks in terms of size.
In the past the Warriors were a smallish-quicker defensive unit. And while they can still fly this year speed will come carrying a big 2x4. All of this comes under the control of second year defensive coordinator Kevin Lempa. After a year of work he's looking to turn it up a notch this season.
The Bows have several different defensive packages, one unit includes Chris Brown, Joe Correia and Pisa Tinosamoa. They're a pretty big group going 6-2, 252 across the board. And they can play. First game of the season set for Maui's War Memorial on September 8th.
