The big event on Maui this weekend is the season opener for Warrior football against Montana. The Warriors have not made it to Maui but the visitors are already in town. The Montana to Maui express touched down Thursday afteroon. And credit the people on Maui, they gave the Grizzlies an entrance to remember.
The Grizzlies got a Maui no ka oi welcome. An entrance fit for a bowl game celebration.
The Grizzlies come in after winning it's opener last week on the road at Cal Poly. On the other side, the Warriors have not yet played a down and according to Coach Glenn that could work in Hawaii's favor.
"They have the element of surprise."
The game is a homecoming of sorts for a couple of guys with local ties. Receiver Randyn Akiona and linebacker Jacob Yoro both played their prep football for local power Saint Louis.
Kickoff between the Warriors and the Grizzlies is set for this Saturday at the War Memorial Stadium.
