Hawaii's newest Health and Fitness TV show breathes new life into a healthier paradise.
A new breed of fitness shows has just been born. With Nutrition tips, exercises, and special guests blended together, there is a side to this 30 minute show that everyone is sure to love.
If you're like me and thousands of others who have watched television exercise shows, you know that they all seem to be based on a similar structure, each with set routines and equipment. Though each in their own can be productive and useful in obtaining your desired physique, some seem to lack components that can be fit for everyone.
After watching one episode of Get Fit Hawaii I saw that there was something for everyone. If you like to go to the gym, they have an exercise that you can use on the machines that will work specific muscles. Or if you like to exercise in the comfort of your own home, you can follow their routines that are based on specific moves found in everyday sports, such as karate, kickboxing, and Hula dancing.
Michael and Sharla Hofmann are a dynamic couple both on and off the show. With their high energy routines and down to earth personalities, the audience is able to connect with these two on a level that leaves us captivated and wanting more.
Born and raised in East Germany, Michael has always been involved in sports. At a young age he took up martial arts and later became a European champion in Kickboxing, Karate, and Boxing. He then ventured into the German film industry as an actor and stuntman. In 1996, Michael moved to the United States, working in Florida and later moving to Hawaii. Upon his move to the Island of Oahu, Michael met his future wife Sharla.
Born in Wahiawa and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, Sharla is a local girl. At a young age Sharla took up Hula, turning professional at the age of 13. She later went into local commercials, modeling, and fitness television shows.
Sharla also took part in state wide competitions, becoming "Ms. Hawaii State Fitness Champion" and "Ms. Paradise Cup Light Weight Champion". Sharla later created a personal training business, which like their new show is called "Get Fit".
After sitting down with Michael and Sharla, I could see their passion about Get Fit and what it represents. They don't just give advice and nutritional tips, but they also live by them. To sum up the show in a few sentences, Michael stated, "Get Fit is a TV show which tells and shows viewers, how to get fit in Aerobics, Proper Weight Training, Nutritional tips and profiles people who really accomplished something in the Fitness World."
"We want to be an example to everyone. Show them how they can do it and how easy and fun it can be." Michael and Sharla's message to everyone is "if you stay focused and believe, everything and anything is possible... Motivate yourself to live a healthier lifestyle, whether it's walking, jogging, or playing tennis, just do something." Whatever it is you choose to do, it's a start to a lifestyle change, a change that can help you look and feel better about yourself.
Whether you're a stay at home parent, a student, or working full-time towards your career, eating right and staying fit is something everyone can do.
So if you decide to start on Monday, or ease into it on Friday, Get Fit is there to motivate you. You can catch them on KHNL K5, Monday through Friday at 6 am. And like Michael and Sharla say, Get Fit... and don't quit!
