The 11th ranked Wahine volleyball team took on the Broncos of Boise State Sunday, in a Western Athletic Conference match at the Stan Sheriff Center. A crowd of 5,979 saw the Wahine dominate the Broncos from start to finish, winning the match 30-16, 30-22 and 30-16.
Kim Willoughby led the Wahine, yet again, with 17 kills and 12 digs. Maja Gustin also had a big night, contributing 17 kills, four aces and a .619 hitting percentage. She also served nine straight points to lead Hawaii on a 10-0 run to close out game one, 30-16.
The Broncos put up a fight in game two, tying the score at 22 before the Wahine went on another run, scoring the next eigth in a row to finish the game, 30-22.
Hawaii easily handled Boise State in game three completing the three game sweep with a 30-16 win.
The match was dominated by Hawaii who held Boise State to a .146 hitting percentage for the night.
Sunday's match was the first encounter ever for the two teams. Boise State has struggled in its WAC debut this year, going 1-8 in the conference and 1-18 overall, with its only win coming against Louisiana Tech on October 13th.
