Friday night at Aloha Stadium, the final four got shaved down to a final two, in the state football championship tournament. There were two semi-final match-ups on Friday, in the late game, it was No. 2 Saint Louis taking on No. 3 Kailua. To the winner, a spot in next week's state final.
In the first half, Prince Brown was doing the damage. He takes it in to give Saint Louis the early lead. But the Surfriders fight back. Taleki Mailau to Kealii Kalahiki, and 65 yards later, he's in for 6. But Saint Louis...too many guns. Bobby George passes to Jason Rivers. As the Crusaders take a big lead on Kailua.
They would make it even bigger. Saint Louis wins it 49 to 7 the final. They go on to the state championship against the winner of Friday's earlier game.
No. 4 Waimea, thinking upset against top ranked Kahuku. The Kauai guys looked good for a while, but the Red Raiders were just too strong. Longa Fonoimoana had two scoring grabs and then Muliwai Pula's speed is just too much for the Menehune, as he makes it, 21-zip Kahuku. But the Menehune hang with it. Rayson Cacal had a pick for the score, as the Menehune earn some respect against the defending state champs
21-7 your final. The Red Raiders gain a spot in the state championship game, for the 3rd straight year.
St. Louis and Kahuku will meet next Friday at Aloha Stadium for the state championship game.
