The fifth-ranked University of Hawaii men's volleyball team managed to pull out a 29-31, 29-31, 31-29, 30-27, 15-12 victory over Number Eleven Lewis tonight at the Outrigger Hotels Invitational.
Hawaii was down 0-2 and Lewis was poised to take the match in the third game. The Warriors never let up and pulled out game three in a close one, 31-29. Hawaii kept that momentum going and came through to pull off the five game victory.
Costas Theocharidis had 26 kills and eleven digs to lead the Warriors. They will face Number Two UCLA Saturday night for the championship of the round-robin tournament.
Gustavo Meyer had 26 kills and Fabiano Barreto added 23 for Lewis, which opened its season with two tournament losses.
Meanwhile, top-ranked Penn State suffered its second tournament loss earlier tonight, falling to UCLA 38-36, 30-20, 33-31. UH and UCLA are the only undefeated teams left in the tourney.
