Fifth ranked Hawai'i fell to second ranked UCLA in the final match of the Outrigger Hotels Invitational. UCLA swept the Warriors 31-29, 30-18 and 30-26.
The first game was close as Hawai'i had a chance to win the game, but UCLA fought back to take game one and the momentum. They continued to roll to a convincing 30-18 game two victory. The Warriors just had nothing left in the third as the Bruins completed the sweep.
Both teams came into the match after beating No. 1 Penn State and No. 11 Lewis. Hawai'i falls to 3-2 and UCLA improves to 5-1.
Chris Pena had 16 kills and Jonathan Acosta added 14 for UCLA. Costas Theocharidis and Jose Delgado had a dozen kills apiece for Hawai'i.
Earlier Saturday, Penn State downed Lewis 30-20, 30-27, 30-26.
