(Los Angeles-AP) -- The second-ranked University of Hawaii men's volleyball team beat unranked Southern California 30-13, 32-30, 30-26 Friday night on the mainland.
Costas Theocharidis had 21 kills and a school-record nine services aces for the Warriors as they improved to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
The Trojan fell to 5-14 and 2-11.
The Warriors played without their captain and starting outside hitter Eyal Zimet, who was ill. Theocharidis' nine service aces broke the previous mark of seven, which was shared by Zimet and former Warriors Mark Presho and Erik Pichel.
In all, Hawaii had 12 service aces to USC's three. The teams face each other again Saturday night.
