Bows Avoid Sweep With 6-5 Win Over UC-Irvine

Out on the diamond. The Rainbow Baseball team finished up its three game series with UC-Irvine Sunday. And after losing the first two games, the Bows tried to avoid the sweep.

In the bottom of the 9th, Hawaii was down 5-1, with the bases loaded for Grady Simmons. He takes one deep to center, the ball just clears the fence. And just like that, we've got a tie ball game.

This would go to extra innings. In the bottom of the twelfth, two on for Tim Montgomery and he comes up with a clutch hit up the middle. Lane Nogawa gets on his horse and slides into home plate. Ball game.

Hawaii pulls out some late inning heroics yet again for the 6 to 5 win in extra innings. They avoid the sweep and improve to 7 and 9 overall.

Next up the Bows start another three game series, this time with Rice. First game is set for Friday and you can catch it live on K5 the Home Team starting at 6:30 p.m.
