(Honolulu-AP) -- University of Hawaii standout Costas Theocharidis was named the national player of the week today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The outside hitter averaged 17 kills per match to lead the Warriors to a three-and-one record last week on the road. He is averaging 5.31 kills and 1.15 blocks per game for Hawaii.
The Warriors are 15-and-four overall with 12-and-two in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
The honor was the first of the season and third of Theocharidis's career. The junior from Orestiada, Greece, was the 2001 AVCA National Player of the Year.
