Spring is in the air and so is football. While we're still more than five months away from the start of the University of Hawaii football season, Saturday night pigskin fans can satisfy their gridiron hunger when the Hawaii Islanders kick off their season opener at the Blaisdell Arena, facing the Fresno Frenzy.
The Islanders are the newest members of the Arena Football League 2. That's a feeder league to the Arena Football League. Got that? Well get this, there's lots of familer faces on the field Saturday night, including former St. Louis and University of Utah quarterback, Darnell Arceneaux.
Also on the team are ten former University of Hawaii Warriors. And for many of them, it'll be their first crack at the indoor game. Names include Robert Kemfort and Miles Garner from the 1999 Oahu Bowl championship team. Ex-linebacker Danny Katoa.
There will even be a Hawaii connection on the other side of the ball. Ex-slotback Eddie Klaneski will be playing for Fresno.
