(Honolulu-AP) -- The search for a new University of Hawaii athletic director is officially underway. The university yesterday announced the members of the search advisory committee that will find a new athletic director for the school.
David McClain, dean of the College of Business Administration, was named chairman of the 16-person committee. Some of the committee members included: Keith Amemiya, executive director of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association; Anthony Guerrero, vice president of First Hawaiian Bank and Faye Kurren, president of Tesoro Hawaii.
Interim Chancellor Deane Neubauer says the group is "well-balanced and represents a range of interests from the university and community."
The committee will recommend finalists for the post in July.
Hawaii athletic director Hugh Yoshida announced in February that he will retire when his contract ends Dec. 31. Yoshida has served as athletic director since 1993.
Among those mentioned as possible candidates to replace Yoshida are former U-H football coach Dick Tomey and Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson.
