(Honolulu-AP) -- Hawaii football coach June Jones announced today that Jason Whieldon has returned to the program. Jones says Whieldon, who dropped out of school and left the football team because of family reasons earlier this month, has returned to school.
Whieldon returned to his home in Orange, California, after the Warriors' 35-32 loss to Brigham Young on September 6th. Whieldon, who was the backup to starter Timmy Chang to start the season, saw limited action completing 7 of 13 passes for 86 yards and three touchdowns in two games.
Jones said he would not determine Whieldon's status on the depth chart until later this week. Shawn Withy-Allen, a fifth-year senior who was promoted to backup Chang, played well in Hawaii's victory over Texas-El Paso on Saturday. He threw two touchdowns and ran for another score.
